Clitocybe nebularis — Cloudy Clitocybe — Tricholomataceae


Medium to large mushroom. Cap depressed to funnel-shaped; surface smooth, dry, pinkish-tan. Gills decurrent, white, becoming buff. Stalk thick, somewhat enlarged at the base, a paler version of the cap color. Saprophytic.
 
Habitat:
In dense groups scattered under conifers.

Scent: Unpleasant, “like skunk cabbage or rodent cages.”

Spores: White

Season: Autumn
