Pholiota aurivella — Golden Scaly-cap — Strophariaceae


Small to large mushroom. Convex or bell-shaped cap maturing to broadly umbonate, viscid, sometimes drying, with large scales when young, ochraceous, orange, aging to tawny, margin with veil remnants. Gills attached pale yellow aging to brown, close. Stalk equal, yellowish or yellowish-brown, aging to cottony above ring, with scales below. Saprophytic.
 
Habitat: Gregarious , coniferous logs and trunks.

Scent: Not distinctive or radishlike

Spores: Cinnamon

Season: Autumn
