Hypholoma udum — Strophariaceae


Small mushroom. Bell-shaped cap maturing to planar or convex, thin, wavey, brown with yellowish umbo and margin, fading. Gills attached, pallid darkening through olive hues to purple-brown. Stalk taller than cap diameter, slender, tough, equal, yellowish above, darker below. Veil with fibrils or cobwebby, sometimes leaving a zone on stalk. Saprophytic.

Synonym: Naematoloma udum

Habitat: Scattered to gregarious, humus, debris, including boggy habitat.

Scent: Somewhat foul

Spores: Purple-brown

Season: Autumn
