Russula cascadensis — Cascade Russula — Russulaceae


Small to medium mushroom. Convex cap, depressed center when young, aging to funnel-shaped, dry, white staining to cinnamon-buff where bruised, becoming brownish, margin incurved.  Gills close to crowded, attached or somewhat decurrent, white discoloring similar to cap, narrow, subgills. Stalk short, white. Mycorrhizal.

Habitat: Solitary, scattered or groups, conifers.

Scent: Not distinctive

Spores: Pale cream-yellow

Season: Autumn
