Lactarius scrobiculatus — Pitted Milk-cap — Russulaceae


Small to large mushroom. Convex to planar cap, depressed center, becoming vase-shaped, viscid when moist, pale yellow to ochre, center darker, scaly, sometimes zoned. Margin inrolled when young, with hairs. Exudes white latex, turning yellowish in air.  Gills close, attached to slightly decurrent, whitish to yellowish. Stalk equal or tapering at base, white to yellowish, with colored pits. Mycorrhizal.
 
Habitat: Solitary to scattered or groups, beneath conifers.

Scent: Not distinctive

Spores: Whitish to creamy

Season: Autumn
