Coprinopsis lagopus  — Harefoot Mushroom — Psathyrellaceae


Small “inky-cap” mushroom. Oval cap, aging to convex or bell-shaped, then flattened, gray to black, with a universal veil of silvery hairs, aging to patches. Gills attached to free, crowded, pale becoming gray, black, then deliquescing or collapsing. Tall stalk, equal or tapering towards apex, white with tiny hairs, longer hairs at base. Saprophytic.

Habitat: Solitary to gregarious on woody debris, garden litter, wood chips.

Scent:
Not distinctive

Spores: Black
