Strobilurus trullisatus  — Douglas-fir Cone Mushroom — Physalacriaceae


Small mushroom. Convex to planar or depressed cap, dry with tiny granules, whitish to pinkish-buff, often striate or wrinkled, sticky when wet, sometimes firbrillose center. Gills close, attached, whitish to pinkish. Stalk taller than cap diameter, equal, white at apex, yellowish to brownish at base, yellowish hairs. Saprophytic.

Habitat: On rotting Douglas-fir cones, sometimes other conifers.

Scent: Not distinctive

Spores: White

Season: Autumn
