Armillaria solidipes  — Dark Honey Mushroom — Physalacriaceae


Small to medium mushroom. Convex cap, flattening with age, dark to cinnamon-brown, with tan to blackish scales.  Gills broadly attached to decurrent, short gills common, whitish when young, aging to pinkish with darker spots. Stalk as tall as cap diameter, equal or somewhat tapered, brownish fibrils, whitish, maturing to brownish or blackish. Cobwebby veil, well-developed whitish ring.  Parasitic and saprophytic.

Habitat: Dense clusters, on conifers. Causes a root rot.

Scent: Not distinctive
