Laccaria amethysteo-occidentalis — Western Amethyst Laccaria — Hydnangiaceae


Small mushroom. Cap convex, becoming plane at maturity; surface dry, with a scattering of minute scales, violet. Gills broadly attached, thick, deep violet, becoming paler.  Stalk longer than the cap is wide, equal, tough and fibrous, somewhat scaly, purplish becoming brown. Mycorrhizal.
 
Habitat:  In small groups in mixed forests at low elevations, sometimes on disturbed ground.
