Ascocoryne sarcoides — Purple Jelly Drops — Helotiaceae


Tiny to small ascomycete. Fruiting body initially spherical, expanding to a disc with a slightly raised edge; rubbery, the surface minutely pimpled, dry but shiny, pale pink-purple. Stalk absent.  Saprophytic.
 
Habitat:   In small groups on rotting logs and sticks, typically on alder, but also on conifers. 

Scent: Not distinctive

Spores: Not known

Season: Autumn
