Gloeophyllum sepiarium  — Conifer Mazegill — Gloeophyllaceae


Small to medium annual polypore. Fruiting body thin and shelf-like, round in outline, and attached directly to the host wood; surface dry, hairy/roughened, with concentric colored zones, ranging from rust to dark brown, whitish at the margin. Pores absent; instead, spores are borne on light brown, blunt, tough, gill-like structures. Saprophytic.
 
 
Habitat:  Solitary or several fused together on conifer stumps and debris. 

Scent: Not distinctive

Spores: White

Season: Autumn
