Cortinarius traganus —  Gassy Webcap — Cortinariaceae


Medium mushroom. Cap convex, soon becoming plane, smooth, dry, lilac in color but often showing paler streaks. Veil remnants on cap margin. Gills yellowish-brown, becoming cinnamon. Stalk tapering towards the top, enlarged but not bulbous at the base, pale lilac, staining brownish, a little taller than the cap is wide. Mycorrhizal.
 
 
Habitat:  Solitary or in small groups, in deep debris in conifer forests. 

Scent: Said to have the scent of pears

Spores: Rusty-brown

Season: Autumn
