Cortinarius alboviolaceus  —  Silvery-violet Cortinarius  — Cortinariaceae


Medium mushroom. Bell-shaped cap becoming broadly umbonate; surface dry, silky, pale violet becoming silvery-violet. Stalk taller than cap width, somewhat enlarged at the base, colored as the cap, with a zone of fibers. Attached gills, violet becoming dull rusty-brown. Mycorrhizal.
 
Habitat: Usually solitary, in mixed conifer/hardwood forests. Perhaps with madrone.

Scent:
Not distinctive

Spores: Rusty-brown
