Lentinellus ursinus — Bear Lentinellus — Auriscalpiaceae


Small-to-medium mushroom. Kidney-shaped cap becoming flattened with age, dark brown to pale brown, sometimes reddish, minutely hairy, margin inrolled. Decurrent gills whitish to pinkish-brown, ragged edge.  Stalk absent. Saprophytic.
 
Habitat: Groups. Primarily hardwoods, on rotting wood.

Scent: Not distinctive

Spores: Creamy white

Season: Summer to autumn
